Thank You, Ward 6 - For Your Continued Trust & Support!
Thank You, Ward 6 – For Your Continued Trust & Support!
I am deeply honored to have earned your trust once again to serve as your City Council Member for Ward 6.
Every vote cast, every conversation at the door, every word of encouragement – it all means more than I can say. Thank you for believing in what we can accomplish together.
Over the past five years, we’ve worked side by side to deliver real results – from protecting renters and expanding affordable housing, to improving public safety rooted in care and accountability, to standing with workers fighting for fair wages and dignity on every shift.
Together, we’ve proven that when our neighbors organize, when we listen to one another, and when we lead with compassion, we can make Minneapolis stronger for everyone.
I want to thank the incredible community organizations, unions, and elected leaders who stood with us – including the Minneapolis DFL, LIUNA Minnesota & North Dakota, AFSCME Council 5, the Minneapolis Building and Construction Trades Council, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sen. Omar Fateh, Sen. Doron Clark, Rep. Mohamud Noor, Commissioner Angela Conley, Council President Elliott Payne, and Council Member Jason Chavez. Your faith and partnership have meant everything.
To my campaign team, volunteers, and everyone who knocked doors, made calls, and showed up – this victory belongs to you.
I also want to take a moment to thank Senator Omar Fateh for his leadership and vision. Though this mayor’s race didn’t go the way many of us hoped, his campaign inspired thousands of neighbors to get involved, to speak up, and to believe again in what’s possible for our city. His message reminded us that progress takes all of us – and that our shared work continues.
I also want to congratulate Mayor Jacob Frey on his re-election, and welcome the returning and newly elected members of the City Council. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with all of you to serve our residents and strengthen Minneapolis together.
As we turn the page to a new term, we’ll keep building a city where everyone – from Cedar-Riverside to Phillips West, from Stevens Square-Loring Heights to Ventura Village, and from Elliot Park to Seward – has a voice, a home, and a fair chance to thrive.
These past five years have taught me that progress doesn’t come from power or politics – it comes from people. From renters who refuse to give up, workers who keep showing up, and neighbors who keep believing this city can live up to its promise. I carry those lessons with me into this new term – stronger, humbler, and more determined to lead with fairness and heart.
Finally, I’m deeply thankful to my wife and family for their love, patience, and support throughout this journey. Their strength and encouragement have kept me grounded and inspired every step of the way.
I’m often asked why I serve, and the words of Hubert H. Humphrey always come to mind:
“The moral test of government is how it treats those who are in the dawn of life – the children; those who are in the twilight of life – the aged; and those who are in the shadows of life – the sick, the needy, and the handicapped.”
That truth has never felt more real – and it will keep guiding how I serve, listen, and lead in the years ahead.
I’m ready to keep doing the work – to serve with integrity, fight with heart, and deliver results for our neighbors.
